Complete activities on pages S18, S19, and R5 in the current textbook on how to analyze timelines Complete a Hot Topics graphic organizer listing the hardships that early settlers faced when coming to America. (see example below). Use the explorer letters (above) for suggestions. Hot Topic Graphic Organizer (http://socialstudiesresourcesite.weebly.com/) As a homework or introduction assignment, create a timeline of 10 events in the student’s life. The student can add 2-3 future events in their life (i.e. marriage, college, etc.) It should include a title, description, and dates for each event. Using page 163 of the Passing the TCAP eBook, create a graphic timeline of technological events. It should include a title, description, inventor and picture for each innovation. Play the timeline game with the technological innovations. Each innovation is written in large letters on an index card. Student teams compete to see which team can put the index cards in chronological (see example below). ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES
Create a 3, 4, 5, or 6 section storyboard depicting the hardships early settlers America faced and how they adapted to their environment. Each section should have a 2-3 sentence description of what is happening in the picture. Write an essay describing how each innovation helped lead to the age of exploration. |
